"How Florida Tax Policy Hurts Middle Class". The Speaker was Alan Stonecipher, Director of Communications/Research Analyst with Florida Center for Fiscal and Economic Policy The FCFEP is the progressive antidote to conservative think tanks.

Alan provided us with a fact based analysis of how regressive our state tax policy is. Here is one amazing portion of his presentation:

Florida has the Second-Worst Tax System in the Nation in Terms of Fairness

· Lowest 20% of earners in Florida, with an average income of $10,500 in annual earnings, pay 13.5% of that income in state and local taxes.

· The middle 20% of earners, with an average income of $37,400, pay 9.0% of their income in state and local taxes.

· The top 1%, averaging $2.4 million in income each year, pay 2.1% of it in state and local taxes in Florida.
